About the Journal

The CSU Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) invites submissions to Exchanges, the CSU's online journal of teaching and learning. This Web-based journal provides a forum for CSU faculty members to publish their scholarship of teaching projects, as well as their experiences, viewpoints, reviews, questions, and creative works related to teaching and learning. All submissions are reviewed by editors, and, in addition, all research articles are double-blind peer-reviewed. Exchanges encourages the collegial discussion of innovative pedagogy, classroom research, outcomes assessment, community service learning, and other initiatives of interest to faculty throughout the system.

Exchanges emerged online in January 2001, after nearly two years of hard work and planning by founding Editor, Carol Holder. The Editorial Board agreed that we wanted a high-quality, professional forum for the faculty exchange of ideas and information on teaching and learning, and we hope you find that this vision has been realized. As the journal grows, we hope that meaningful interactions will emerge, and we encourage readers to submit comments on the published works. We recognize the considerable diversity of students and campuses within our system and welcome the collegial discussion of differing perspectives and experiences.

CSU faculty with questions or ideas concerning Exchanges are encouraged to contact Mary Allen, the Exchanges Executive Editor, at mallen@calstate.edu, or Cheryl Weigand, the Exchanges Managing Editor, at exchanges@calstate.edu. We want to engage CSU faculty in productive reflection and discussion of issues related to teaching and learning, connecting over 20,000 CSU faculty and recognizing their efforts to provide quality learning environments to nearly 370,000 students on our 23 campuses.
