Mayling Nicolas joined the Office of General Counsel as a Paralegal in 2005. Ms. Nicolas has a legal background in plaintiff employment, consumer class action and environmental litigation. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, she was with the boutique firm of Litt and Associates and Communities for a Better Environment, a community justice organization. She has staffed cases against hospitals, auto loan financers and prisons. She has taken several cases to trial in state and federal courts, including a federal prison class action case. Prior to becoming a paralegal, Ms. Nicolas worked as a professional fundraiser managing logistics for national non-profit campaigns. Before that, she handled marketing communications for a software company.
In the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Nicolas staffs cases involving employment litigation, student fee litigation, unlawful detainers, improper use of the CSU name, and also manages cases involving Public Records Act (PRA) requests.
