Carlos Córdova joined the Office of General Counsel in June 1988. He transferred to the Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo campus in October 1994, where he serves as University Counsel. During his six years at the Office of General Counsel, Mr. Córdova served at various times as the assigned legal counsel for six CSU campuses, and also represented ten other CSU campuses on various assignments. He also served a special nine-month assignment at the CSU, Northridge campus following the 1994 Northridge earthquake to assist with the disaster recovery process, including helping CSU secure approximately $400 million in disaster aid from FEMA. Mr. Córdova has also helped secure FEMA assistance for four other CSU campuses, as well as a handful of municipal agencies. Mr. Córdova is a member of the Office of General Counsel’s Human Resources Team, and serves as the Office of General Counsel resource attorney for police/clery matters, wage and hour, Family Medical Leave Act and PERB.

Legal Organizations and Activities:
Mr. Córdova has been a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) since 1988. He served on the Executive Committee for the California State Bar Public Law Section from 1992-1995. He is also a member of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association.
Publications and Speaking Arrangements:
Mr. Córdova authored an article for the State Bar’s Public Law Journal entitled “An Overview of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Reimbursement Program for Public Facilities Damaged as a Result of Federally Declared Disasters.” (Fall/Winter 1993) In October 2000, Mr. Córdova was a presenter at a NACUA Workshop entitled “Student in Cyberspace: Navigating and Taming Student Use of Technology on Your Campus.” He also makes presentations at all CSU Police Chiefs meetings, and has made presentations at several CSU systemwide Human Resources meetings.
