Governor Appoints Member to CSU Board of Trustees

Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Henry Mendoza last week to the CSU Board of Trustees replacing Moctesuma Esparza, who stepped down from his position on the board in May.

Mendoza’s appointment will need to be confirmed by the Senate Rules committee and, if confirmed, Mendoza will complete Esparza’s remaining eight-month term on the board. The confirmation hearing will give the Senate committee an opportunity to ask key questions regarding Mendoza’s views on higher education and how he sees his future role on the board. Prior to this hearing, Mendoza will be asked to submit a written response to questions regarding his objectives as well as meet one-on-one with committee members to discuss what he can contribute to the Board of Trustees.

Mendoza is a graduate of the CSU system with a Bachelor of Arts degree from CSU Fullerton. Since 1997, he has served as managing partner of Mendoza, Berger & Company. Mendoza previously served as senior auditor for Strabala, Ramirez & Associates from 1995 to 1997 and was an audit manager for Haskell & White from 1986 to 1995. He served as a senior accountant for Gilbert Vasquez & Company from 1981 to 1986. Mendoza is chairman of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
