Budget Stalemate Continues…
After a tense week of back and forth deliberations between the Senate and the Assembly, and Republican and Democratic leadership, a budget proposal began its final journey towards the Governor’s Desk.
As discussions took place this week at the highest levels, it was unclear what each side was proposing, what rumors were accurate and what, if any, hit the California State University would have to take to close out this year’s budget. More »
Assembly Bill 1413 Continuing to Move
Assembly Bill 1413 (Portantino) a bill that proposes to make several statutory changes to the governance and operations of the university is on its way to the Senate Floor. The CSU is making every effort to defeat this legislation, which is being carried at the request of the California Faculty Association (CFA), and is looking ahead and planning for the possibility of it reaching the Governor’s desk. Appropriations Committees to Take Last Review on Bills
As the last weeks of July are coming to a close most of the measures the CSU is tracking are in the possession of the Appropriations Committee of the Senate or the Assembly. Each of the houses’ fiscal committees will meet at least twice near the end of August to debate the fiscal cost of these measures and to either move them onto the final step before the Governor or hold them in committee for another year.More »
