CSU Spring Advocacy Day A Success
Last Wednesday, campus delegations made up of presidents, students, alumni and community leaders came together at the Capitol for the annual CSU Spring Advocacy Day. This year’s event was unique in that it became a joint effort between CSU and the California State Student Association (CSSA) membership to advocate on behalf of both the state budget and AB 302 (De la Torre). Legislature Introduces Several Military College Assistance Measures
The Legislature has taken several active steps this session to introduce measures that encourage active and veteran military individuals to enter California universities.

In particular the CSU Board of Trustee’s sponsored Assembly Bill 950 by Assembly Member Mary Salas which would establish a consistent policy regarding non-resident fee waivers for members of our armed forces, stationed in California, who are not residents of California and are graduate students at the CSU by providing them an additional two years at the in-state rate. Fiscal Deadline of June 1st Key Hurdle for Many Measures
The first house fiscal deadline of June 1 is quickly coming up and the CSU is actively tracking some 200 measures in the Senate and the Assembly.

As both houses’ appropriations committee meet and hear measures they start the process of placing measures that have been identified as costing the State $150,000 or more on their suspense file (at the discretion of the appropriations staff). More »

Report Indicates California Needs More College-Educated Workers
A recent report indicates California is continuing along a path that has been escalating for a decade that shows that while the state’s need for college-educated workers is increasing rapidly, the state’s ability to graduate students at the same if not higher rate is lagging. More »

July 20 - August 20 - Legislative Summer Break (pending enactment of Budget)
