The CSU Office of Federal Relations (OFR) works in Washington, D.C., to advance the interests of the nation's largest and most diverse university system. The OFR serves as a resource to Washington-based policymakers, including the California Congressional delegation, as well as to educational associations and media. The OFR also leads system efforts each year to formulate and coordinate the federal priorities of the CSU's 23 campuses.
The CSU will help lead the charge to help survivors of sexual assault by establishing an independent, on-campus advocate on its 23 campuses by June 2015. The CSU, along with the UC system and several other organizations will voluntarily implement the Survivor Outreach and Support Campus Act introduced by Sen. Barbara Boxer and Rep. Susan Davis which would provide an independent advocate who would ensure that survivors of sexual assault—regardless of whether they decide to report the crime—have access to medical care, crisis intervention, counseling and other services.
