Create Tomorrow Together
2008 Facilities Management Conference
October 21 - 25, 2008
Los Angeles, California - Biltmore Hotel
Capital Planning, Design and Construction, Office of the Chancellor, is pleased to announce the 2008 CSU Facilities Management Conference. This year’s conference will be held October 21-24 at the Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles, where university executives and facilities managers, faculty, students, and business partners will gather to further their understanding of campus planning, design, construction and operations for the next generation of university students. This conference is exclusive for California State University and University of California faculty, staff, and students.
The theme, Create Tomorrow Together, reflects our expectations of the conference to consider opportunities to collaborate across professional disciplines to deliver a university that is responsive to tomorrow’s generations: sustainable and resilient—ingenious and insightful—integrated and remarkable.
New this year, we have issued a Call for Papers to solicit presentations to address the subject areas in the five concurrent educational tracks. We encourage you to share your professional expertise with your colleagues. This year’s tracks are:
- Planning for Change
- Design and Construction
- Energy Efficiency and Plant Optimization
- Custodial, Grounds, and Trades Management
- Professional Development
Expect to be inspired by keynote speakers, find innovations in the exhibit hall, and enjoy networking opportunities with colleagues and sponsors. Exhibits of student campus projects will demonstrate the type of creativity that will sustain tomorrow’s university.
And do not miss out on the extracurricular activities to enhance your enjoyment of the conference and the Los Angeles area. The Millennium Biltmore Hotel, a showcase of Italian-Renaissance architecture in the heart of exciting downtown Los Angeles, is near the Staples Center, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Los Angeles Public Library, and the Grand Central Market, to name just a few major attractions. We hope that you will extend your stay and take time to explore the city and surrounding region.
Keep an eye on this website for conference developments. See you in October!
