This one-day course is designed to provide project managers, building
coordinators and other responsible campus parties with a framework to
effectively review plans and specifications at each phase of project development:
- What to look for to ensure contract compliance and that you are getting the full
measure of what you are paying for.
- How to ensure that your A/E team does not design you or themselves into a corner.
- General mistakes to avoid, and are view of both classic recurring problems, as
well as new issues in contemporary A/E practice that need to be effectively managed.
- How to review a life cycle cost analysis.
- How to review proprietary specifications.
- How to balance use of design-build systems in nondesign-build deliveries.
- What to look for in cost estimates and schedules.
- Use of allowances.
- Meeting specific challenges associated with access compliance and Department of Finance Review.
- Recommendations for managing design reviews and project meetings for maximum results.
