Design Procedures
- Morning Session
This fast-paced morning session will explore the CSU design
process from pre-schematics to bid opening with an emphasis
on controlling costs, savingtime and developing/maintaining
project quality. This session is targeted toCSU campus personnel
who manage capital projects and will provide essentialproject
management tips and relay observations of best practices systemwide.Topics
will include:
- Architectural Selection Process
- Effective Campus Project Reviews
- Agreements, Exhibits, and Fees
- Post Performance Reviews
- Preparation for Schematic Board of Trustees Approvals

Building Official - Afternoon Session
This condensed afternoon session builds from where the design
proceduresession left off in the morning. This session will
review the responsibilities and duties of campus building
officials and public expectations for all thoseresponsible
for the construction of capital projects. This program is
targeted to campus executive deans, campus inspectors and,
in particular, campus deputy building officials. Topics will
include:
- The legal framework for code review
- DSA/ADA access compliance
- Plan check process and procedures
- Seismic peer reviews
- Special determinations
- Mechanical peer reviews
- Fire marshal review and approvals
