Reedley High School in collaboration with feeder middle schools,
Kings River Community Colleges, California State University,
Fresno, and community business partners will work towards a)
increasing the readiness, retention and achievement levels of
RHS students in mathematics b) strengthening teachers capacities
at the middle and high school levels to enable all students
to learn the college prep curriculum, and c) to improve the
motivation, preparation, and success of students in postsecondary
education and the workforce.
Components of the project include: implementing interactive
Mathematics throughout the curriculum, establishing an AVID
college preparatory program, providing after-school tutoring,
involving parent through a Family Math Night program, developing
a summer math institute to be held at the local community
college for students in grades 7-9, providing staff development
for 7-12 mathematics staff, articulating curriculum from grades
K-12, and developing workplace learning opportunities for
students.
