CAPP 20th Anniversary

Seminar and Celebration Event (.pdf)
February 4, 2005
Claremont Resort & Spa, Berkeley, CA

Dear Friends,
The California Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) turns 20 this year. That’s 20 years of successful partnerships between high schools, middle schools, higher education, business, and community interests to increase student achievement and opportunity. Please join us to mark this occasion and help set the course for CAPP’s future.

Our anniversary celebration/seminar will be held Friday, February 4, 2005, at the Claremont Resort & Spa in Berkeley. Festivities will begin with a luncheon at noon and conclude with a reception at 4:30 p.m. You will have an opportunity to meet colleagues from your CAPP grant cycle, exchange views with California educational leaders, discuss CAPP partnerships over the years, and celebrate what you and your partners have accomplished. Leaders from each CAPP partnership and all former and current CAPP Advisory Committee Members and staff are invited.

Dennis Galligani, Associate Vice President, University of California, Office of the President and an original CAPP Advisory Committee Member, will be our luncheon speaker.

Afternoon seminars will include the following:

  • Jordan Horowitz, Senior Project Director will present a new publication on lessons learned from CAPP’s Standards and High School Exit Exam projects.

  • Alice Kawazoe, Curriculum Consultant will lead a panel discussion of case studies from successful projects that have increased student learning and improved instruction.

  • Alfred Manaster, Director of the Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project, will provide an update of MDTP’s current services.

  • Interactive roundtable discussions will be conducted to set future directions for CAPP.

A reception will be held at 4:30 p.m. immediately following these presentations.

Join us on February 4, 2005, to reflect on CAPP’s accomplishments in the last 20 years and think about the issues CAPP should focus on in the future.

Sincerely,
Dave Jolly Gerald Resendez
Statewide CAPP Director CAPP Advisory Committee Chair
