Office of the Chancellor 400 Golden Shore Long Beach, California 90802-4275 (562) 985-2712 Code: B 98-03 Date: April 17, 1998 To: Chief Financial Officers From: John R. Richards Budget Director Subject: Implementation of Five Percent State University Fee
Rate Reduction for Undergraduates Determination of student status for implementation of the five
percent rate reduction in undergraduate State University Fee rates
for 1998/99 will be based on the standard definitions from the
Enrollment Reporting System-Student (ERSS) reports. Students at
levels 4 and below are classified as undergraduate students. Students
at level 5 are determined to be graduate or postbaccalaureate
students by their student standing code (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or
8). Whether coded as a graduate or postbaccalaureate student, all
students who are determined not to be undergraduates based on their
student standing code would pay the higher fee level of $1,584 per
academic year. This rule also applies to students seeking teaching
credentials. If you have any questions concerning these definitions, please
speak with, Dr. Philip Garcia, Deputy Director of Analytic Studies,
for clarification. Please contact Mark Lopez with any fee schedule
questions. Pending further possible action by the legislature, current fee
rates approved by the Board of Trustees at their November meeting are
as follows: 1998/99 STATE UNIVERSITY FEE SCHEDULE RESOLVED, By the Board of Trustees of
The California State University that the following schedule for the
State University Fee is approved for the 1998/99 academic year
effective the fall term 1998: B 98-03 Page 2
And, be it further RESOLVED, that the Chancellor may
approve individual campus fee rates that do not exceed the maximum
fee rates established by this fee schedule for the 1998/99 fiscal
year. Distribution:
