Mission


The Division of Business and Finance enables campuses to fulfill the educational mission of the California State University by providing effective and prudent support for budget and fiscal management, physical plant management and information technology services, with a focus on public safety while mitigating risks.

Key Goals

  • Cultivate a climate of fairness, cooperation, and professionalism in Business & Finance.

  • Promote staff development, encourage creativity, and provide them with the skills to be successful.

  • Increase staff recognition and solicit ideas from staff to make Business & Finance a better workplace.

  • Be a strategic resource and trusted partner for campuses to enhance student achievement.

  • Improve communication, increase transparency, and offer guidance to campuses.

  • Provide campuses with intuitive and flexible tools, so that they can provide outstanding services for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Increase the availability and use of data for campuses.

  • Simplify policies and procedures to reduce workload for campuses.

  • Reduce cycle time and improve the performance of our essential support services.

  • Research, advocate, and secure support for investment by the State.

  • Ensure effective stewardship of resources to maintain stakeholder and public trust.

  • Reduce costs, limit risk, and optimize return on investment; report results to stakeholders.
