Efforts to encourage California Community College (CCC) Participation and Collaboration in the Lower Division Transfer Patterns (LDTP) Project
RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate California State University (CSU) recommend that representatives from the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate and an academic administrative representative from the CSU Chancellor’s Office meet with representatives from the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate for the CCC and an academic administrative representative from the CCC Chancellor’s Office to encourage increased participation and collaboration in the LDTP project; and be it further,
RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU request that a report from the Academic Senate CSU Executive Committee concerning the results of these efforts be presented at the November 2008 plenary session and the next meeting of the LDTP advisory committee.
RATIONALE: The Fall 2008 cycle of admissions for 2009 for the first time includes provisions whereby students may be admitted as upper division transfers from California Community Colleges via LDTP. Pending is an important decision whether to purchase DARS software to support and enhance transfer admission via LDTP. A new Community Colleges Chancellor, Dr. Jack Scott, has been chosen and will take office in January 2009. All of this should mean a bright future for LDTP, to the benefit of transfer students and the people of California. Yet at the same time, CCC participation in the current articulation process for LDTP has shown substantial decline.
With this resolution, the Academic Senate CSU seeks to encourage such efforts, and looks forward to the report requested in the resolution.
