Resolution of Commendation for Robert D. Kully

WHEREAS, Robert D. Kully has retired after thirty-six years of dedicated service to the University; and

WHEREAS, He has served as Professor of Speech Communication, Associate Dean and Acting Dean of the School of Letters and Science, at California State University, Los Angeles; and

WHEREAS, He has published extensively in prestigious journals in his field and has presented over eighty academic papers, professional lectures and speeches; and

WHEREAS, He is a member of Alpha Chi, Blue Key, Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Kappa Delta; and

WHEREAS, He received the Distinguished Scholar Award of the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi; and

WHEREAS, He received the Distinguished Service Award of the Western Speech Communication Association, and the Outstanding Professor Award of California State University, Los Angeles; and

WHEREAS, He served many years on both the CSULA Academic Senate and the CSU Academic Senate. and in addition to serving on many committees of both of those bodies, he served as Chair of the CSULA Senate from 1973 to 1975 and as Chair of the CSU Academic Senate from 1979 to 1983; and

WHEREAS, He served as a member of the California State University Board of Trustees from 1983 to 1987 and on the Board of Visitors of the California Maritime Academy; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of The California State University honor Robert D. Kully on the occasion of his retirement and express to him its sincere thanks and deep appreciation for his outstanding contributions to the University and to his profession; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the CSU Academic Senate express to Robert D. Kully its admiration of and appreciation for the great skill, judgment and good humor with which all of these functions were performed, and extend to him its very best wishes for the future.
