Commendation in Honor of Academic Senator Diana Wright Guerin

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin is a proud graduate of the CSU, having received her BA from California State University (CSU) Long Beach and her M.S. in psychology from CSU Fullerton; and

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin has been a member of the Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) since 2004; and


WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin served as Chair of the ASCSU from 2012–2014, leading the Senate during challenging times with foresight and courage; and

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin has served on the Executive Committee as Secretary and as Chair, the Fiscal & Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Faculty Affairs Committee as Chair and as Vice Chair of the ASCSU; and

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin has served 41 times on or as the ASCSU Liaison to system–wide committees or associations during 2010–2016; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Fiscal & Governmental Affairs Committee, Diana Wright Guerin performed her responsibilities faithfully, cheerfully and with full cognizance of the role of shared governance; and

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin has been a strong proponent of shared governance at both the system and campus level, having also chaired the CSU Fullerton Academic Senate from 2006 – 2008 and again during 2010–11 and served on the CSU Fullerton Academic Senate Executive Committee from 2004–2016; and

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin has served on the Executive Committee of the CSU Fullerton Chapter of the California Faculty Association as well as the campus Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Steering Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin has always been eager to share her experiences and wisdom about being a member of the ASCSU and about shared governance more broadly, being the recipient of the CSU Fullerton Faculty Leadership in Collegial Governance Award during 2008–09; and

 

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin was always a champion of faculty with an eye to ensuring that the CSU focus on its tenure ratio for hiring new and more faculty to enable the CSU to carry out its student–centered mission; and

 

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin was a faculty member in the department of Child an Adolescent Studies at CSU Fullerton since 1989 where she served as Chair of the Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin was elected as a Fellow of the Western Psychological Association; and

 

WHEREAS, Diana Wright Guerin was president and treasurer of the Orange County Association for the Education of Young Children; be it therefore

RESOLVED: Be it resolved that the Academic Senate of the California State University express its appreciation and gratitude for Diana Wright Guerin’s service to California State University Fullerton and to shared governance; and be it further

 

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University wish Diana Wright Guerin the very best and good luck as she begins her time in the Faculty Early Retirement Program at CSUF, and will thus be able to spend more time with her children and as she pleases!
