Commendation of Kate Fawver

AS-3183-14/CSUDH Delegation

WHEREAS, Senator Kate Fawver joined the Department of History at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Senator Fawver served on the CSUDH Academic Senate as vice-chair and chair, prior to her election as Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) senator in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Senator Fawver additionally and ably has served her campus as Chair of History and Chair of the University Budget Committee; and

WHEREAS: Senator Fawver received one of the campus’s highest faculty honors, the Excellence in Service Award, for her contributions to the campus; and

WHEREAS, Senator Fawver has proven her worth to the ASCSU by serving on the Academic Affairs and Fiscal and Governmental Affairs committees as well as contributing to the General Education Advisory Committee as vice-chair; and

WHEREAS, Senator Fawver has been a tireless defender of history as an essential aspect of a liberal education in all fora but especially in her opposition to the threatened waiving of the American Institutions requirement; and

WHEREAS, Senator Fawver put fear in the hearts of administrators and colleagues alike with the phrase, “let me be blunt”; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU thank Senator Fawver for her service to the ASCSU and the CSU; and be it further

RESOLVED: That we offer warm congratulations to Kate for her Fulbright Scholarship and wish her all the best as she both ventures into the unknown territory of the Udmurt Republic of Russia and remains an active contributor to her campus and the California State University
