Commendation Of Dr. Cristy Ann Jensen

AS-2805-07/Sacramento Del. - May 10-11, 2007

WHEREAS, Cristy Ann Jensen has faithfully represented the California State University, Sacramento campus on the Academic Senate of the CSU for the past twelve years, a record for a senator from the Sacramento campus; and

WHEREAS, Cristy Ann Jensen has willingly taken on leadership responsibilities within the statewide Academic Senate by serving three terms as chair of the Fiscal & Governmental Affairs Committee and four terms as a member of the Executive Committee; and

WHEREAS, During her twelve years of service on the statewide Academic Senate, Cristy Ann Jensen has served on at least thirty-two committees, commissions, councils, clearing houses, boards, groups, and task forces on the Senate’s behalf—and that’s not counting her liaison roles, and

WHEREAS, Through her professional training in public policy, her familiarity with the legislative process, and her close personal contacts with a wide range of key players in Sacramento, Cristy Ann Jensen has been a unique and invaluable asset to the Academic Senate in its advocacy efforts in the state capitol; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her years of service on the Academic Senate, three themes have always been evident: her collegiality, her belief in the quality of our educational programs from undergraduate through the doctorate, and her commitment to genuinely collaborative shared governance; and

WHEREAS, Despite the above, Cristy Ann Jensen cannot be said to be “all work and no play,” for she’s been known, after a plenary session, to spend so much time dallying in the sand at Venice Beach that she missed her return flight to Sacramento; and

WHEREAS, This year marks not only Cristy’s final year on the statewide Academic Senate but also her final year, due to retirement, as a faculty member of the CSU; and

WHEREAS, Despite retirement, Cristy has nonetheless declared her intention to continue working on higher education issues around the state capitol, even in her “golden years”: therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University recognize that Cristy Jensen has been great and gracious colleague whose commitment to the mission of the Academic Senate has set the standard for all of us; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the CSU declare its appreciation to Cristy Ann Jensen for her years of untiring service and wish her health, happiness, and good luck in all her future endeavors.
