Commendation of Unny Menon

AS-2764-06/San Luis Obispo Del. - May 4-5, 2006

WHEREAS, Unny Menon has served the Academic Senate California State University (CSU) with distinction as Senator from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (SLO) for the entire 21st Century; and

WHEREAS, Unny Menon has, for the last 6 years, been a valuable member of the Fiscal and Governmental Affairs Committee and has represented the Academic Senate CSU on The Senate Task Force on Facilitating Graduation (Joint Provosts) and the Group to assist on Program Review; and

WHEREAS, Unny Menon has repeatedly combined his Eastern mysticism with his British school reserve and engineering pragmatism to bring reason and wisdom to the discussions before the Academic Senate CSU and its committees; and

WHEREAS, Unny Menon has frequently used his great sense of humor to keep the business of the Academic Senate CSU in the proper prospective; and

WHEREAS, Unny Menon is universally recognized as a person of high integrity and a tireless advocate for promoting good and just policies; and

WHEREAS, Unny Menon has provided the balance and moderation that was sometimes sorely needed in the Cal Poly SLO representation to the Academic Senate CSU; and

WHEREAS, Unny Menon has recently taken his many talents to try to enlighten the dark side of Academia at Cal Poly SLO; and

WHEREAS, Unny Menon will be truly missed by his many friends and colleagues in the Academic Senate CSU; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU thank Unny Menon for his work in the Senate and on behalf the faculty and students of the CSU; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU wish Unny Menon continued success and the best of luck in his position as Associate Dean of Engineering at Cal Poly SLO.
