Commendation for Mark Thompson

AS-2759-06/Stanislaus Del. - May 4-5, 2006

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has served with distinction on the Academic Senate of the California State University (CSU), representing CSU Stanislaus, since 1998; and

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has served with distinction as Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and has been unwavering in his support of the faculty's role in defining curriculum and terms and conditions for degrees; and

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has worked tirelessly on all manner of issues brought before this body in a serious and thoughtful manner and has been an effective advocate for his belief that it is the responsibility of the CSU to provide necessary pre-baccalaureate coursework for our students; and

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has lived the life of shared governance in planning and decision-making in all of his endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has driven a minimum of 25, 000 miles in his mini to attend Senate meetings over the past eight years; and

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has been a friend and supporter of the members of this body; and

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has served dutifully as mentor to several junior Senators from his campus to the Academic Senate CSU; and

WHEREAS, Mark Thompson has embraced the role of father with the same passion that he brings to all of his life pursuits; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU expresses its appreciation and thanks to Mark Thompson for his many years of dedication and service to the body; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU wishes Mark Thompson the best in his future endeavors.
