Commendation of Gayle Hutchinson

WHEREAS, Gayle Hutchinson has served the faculty, Academic
Senate, and the California State University (CSU) thoughtfully and professionally; and
WHEREAS, Gayle's commitment to excellence in teacher
education has been demonstrated by her work as an educator, faculty member,
Department Chair in the Kinesiology Department at California State University,
Chico and through her service as Vice Chair of TEKR; and
WHEREAS, Gayle has served on numerous systemwide committees,
particularly on the "course alignment project"; and
WHEREAS, The CSU, faculty, students and others who have
worked with her have benefited from her knowledge, diligence and commitment to
shared governance, academic freedom and teacher education; and
WHEREAS, Gayle is the recipient of an American Council on
Education (ACE) Fellowship and will be spending the next year as a mentee with
a distinguished University President; and
WHEREAS, She has provided the Committee on Teacher Education
and K-12 Relations (TEKR) with sound counsel and a systemwide vision that belied
the truth of the arduously long commute from Chico to Long Beach; therefore be it
RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State
University extend its deep gratitude for her time and service to TEKR and the
Senate, and its best wishes for her next year as an ACE Fellow and the continued
success in her career in higher education.
