Commendation for John Shields

WHEREAS, John Shields, Statewide Academic Senator, has always been an exemplar of dedication and service; and

WHEREAS, John Shields has served dutifully on the Academic Affairs Committee and;

WHEREAS, John Shields has proposed, written, revised, edited and interpolated commentary to the COIA resolution; and

WHEREAS, John Shields, even in absentia has written, revised, edited and provided various versions of rationales for COIA; and

WHEREAS, John Shields, while traveling hither and yond from Armenia to Africa, from Ireland to Istanbul for the sake of Ag Econ, has continued to serve the Academic Senate of the California State University (CSU), his constituents and the students tirelessly, faithfully and dutifully; and

WHEREAS, John Shields has participated fully and grammatically correctly in all Academic Affairs discussions and text emendations; and

WHEREAS, John Shields has faithfully served the local Fresno State Senate as emendator, editor, reviser, amanuensis and grammarian; and

WHEREAS, John Shields, phantom of the Grapevine and night owl driver, has contributed to the Academic Senate CSU far beyond his two-year tenure of service; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University salute, thank and applaud John Shields for his contributions to the work of the Academic Affairs Committee and the Academic Senate CSU.
