Resolution in Honor of Senator Tim Hegstrom

AS-2541-01/San José - May 10-11, 2001

WHEREAS, Tim Hegstrom served on the Academic Senate of the California State University, with distinction, for two full terms (1992-95, 1998-2001); and

WHEREAS, Senator Hegstrom demonstrated outstanding leadership on many Senate committees, including the Faculty Affairs Committee, Academic Affairs Committee, Vice Chair of Teacher Education & K-12 Relations, and subcommittees and task forces too numerous to enumerate; and

WHEREAS, Senator Hegstrom has faithfully and generously represented the Senate on critical intersegmental committees, including the Committee on K-18 Curricular Issues, and the Regional Partnerships Committee of the Intersegmental Coordinating Committee of the California Education Round Table; and

WHEREAS, Senator Hegstrom took the lead in bringing faculty in Communication Studies from across the CSU together to seek consensus on lower-division components of the Communication Studies degree, thereby to improve articulation and transfer; and

WHEREAS, As a high school board member, Senator Hegstrom has brought a unique and informed perspective to all matters before the Academic Senate CSU; and

WHEREAS, Senator Hegstrom's considerable expertise in persuasive communication has helped guide his Senate colleagues in taking responsible and forward thinking positions that are good for the CSU and its faculty and students; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University commend Tim Hegstrom for his outstanding service to the California State University and extend appreciation for his many contributions and accomplishments; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU extend to Senator Hegstrom its best wishes for success in all future endeavors.
