Resolution in Honor of Senator Rosemarie Marshall

AS-2501-00/Los Angeles - May 4-5, 2000

WHEREAS, Rosemarie Marshall served on the California State University Academic Senate, with distinction, for a commendable 15-year period; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall demonstrated outstanding leadership while serving on many Senate committees, including the Executive Committee, Faculty Affairs Committee, Academic Affairs Committee and many subcommittees and task forces dealing with matters from Risk Management, Affirmative Action, Intellectual Property to Presidential Selection Committee for Monterey Bay; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall, while serving on the California State University Academic Senate, was Chair of the Cal State Los Angeles Academic Senate for two terms and has served on its Executive Committee since 1985 as well as every major campus committee for at least the same number of years; and

WHEREAS, Rosemarie Marshall received many honors for her scholarship, teaching and University and community service, including the Trustees Outstanding Professor Award, the Cal State Los Angeles Outstanding Professor Award, and the Phi Kappa Phi Distinguished Scholar Award for which we commend her with great pride; and

WHEREAS, Rosemarie Marshall contributed to faculty welfare with her many years of service in the American Association of University Professors, where she held the office of First Vice President from 1994-1996, the California Faculty Association, where she held the office of Cal State Los Angeles President for two terms; and

WHEREAS, Rosemarie brought cheer and good wishes with her winning smile, to all she worked with during her tenure on the California State University Academic Senate; and

WHEREAS, Rosemarie has exhibited an extra bit of good cheer with the upcoming collaboration she will undertake as she enters the matrimonial ranks; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University commend Rosemarie Marshall for her outstanding service to the California State University and extend appreciation for her many accomplishments; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU wish Rosemarie every happiness as she takes on the double title of “Emeritus Professor” and “Mrs.” – all in the same year.
