Resolution of Commendation for Senator Terry Miller

AS-2170-93/GA - May 6-7, 1993

WHEREAS, Terry Miller's term as fourth Senate representative from San Jose State University, flagship campus of the CSU, is now ending; and

WHEREAS, San Jose State is not able to elect a fourth Senator for next year due to enrollment cuts to below the level of 20,000 FTEs; and

WHEREAS, This decline in enrollment is in no way attributable to the actions of Senator Miller; and

WHEREAS, The Academic Senate of the California State University will next year have to deal with a critically ill education system, suffering from hemorrhaging finances, suffocating state intervention, acute trauma to vital academic organs, and the implacable, insidious spread of general debilitation and morbidity, all calling for heroic measures on the part of this body; and

WHEREAS, Terry Miller is a specialist in the teaching and practice of critical care nursing; and

WHEREAS, The thoughtful attention and timely interventions of Senator Terry Miller have been most appreciated this year; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University regret the loss of Terry Miller's presence and interventions; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University wish Terry Miller well in his life and work in years to come.
