CSU Faces Additional $50 Million Hole in Budget Deficit
Some of the California State University’s (CSU) current year fiscal stability was contingent on the state of California receiving at least $10 billion of the Federal Stimulus package dollars for general purposes.
As of last week, it has been announced that this is not likely to happen and therefore the CSU will likely be faced with an additional $50 million cut for fiscal year 2009-10.

Trustee Margaret Fortune Confirmed by the Legislature
ast year Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the appointment of Margaret Fortune to the California State University Board of Trustees (BOT).
The legislature did not formally take action on her confirmation this month leading toa 38-0 vote in the Senate. Trustee Fortune will now serve her full 8-year term until 2016. More »
Election to Fill Congressional Seat Needed
On the ballot that is quickly filling up on May 19th, voters in Los Angeles County will also be voting to elect a new congressional member to represent the 32nd district. This district includes Baldwin Park, Covina and Azuza.
While apparently the Los Angeles County Registrar has 17 candidates filed to run for this open seat, it seems that the races is truly a two-person race between the former Chair of Assembly Appropriations Committee and current Board of Equalization Member Judy Chu and State Senator Gil Cedillo.
