Wess Larson is the Senior Legislative Advocate in the Office of Advocacy & State Relations for the California State University Chancellor's Office. He is responsible for articulating the university's message to policy-makers within the executive and legislative branches of state government regarding the overall goals and objectives of the CSU system.
Before coming to the CSU system, Wess was Principal Consultant for postsecondary educational issues in the California State Assembly, where he served for over 12 years. In 1995, Wess served as Chief Consultant to the Assembly Committee on Higher Education, with Chairman Assemblyman Brooks Firestone.
Prior to working in the Legislature, Wess was Assistant Director of Dental Affairs with the California Dental Association, and Associate Director of Governmental Affairs with the California Association of Health Facilities.
Wess has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with an emphasis in public administration from Brigham Young University.
Wess served on the Rio Linda Union Elementary School Board where he served as President of the Board of Trustees three times; he also served as a member of the Delegate Assembly with the California School Boards Association. He enjoys working with youth in the North Area of Sacramento County and has served many years as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 249.
